CHAPTER 1 – PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD – 13282 – INSTALL VEHICLE COMPONENTS
INFORMATION ABOUT THIS MODULE
How to use this module
Congratulations, you are starting a workplace-based learning programme. You may have to learn and do some of this on your own and some of this will be with the help of your facilitator or mentor. We have written this module so that you cannot just memorize the content but you have to use your new knowledge to help you understand and develop skills by doing the activities.
Understanding activities, formative and summative assessments
Activities are included that are designed to enable the learner
- to participate actively in his or her learning
- to find out how general learning principles are applied in his or her own workplace
- develop skills such as discovery learning through questioning and investigation, problem solving and ability to transfer learning from one context to another
Formative assessments are included along the way as “check points” to assess whether the learner had grasped the concepts and is ready to move on to the next section. These should be done in a manner that ensures as far as possible that the learners own progress is being assessed. All the critical cross field outcome requirements specified by the unit standards are covered by the formative assessments.
The summative assessments are linked back to the unit standard outcomes (a matrix of which is given at the end of this guide). The summative assessment will be carried out by an accredited assessor who uses these tools, and other evidence such as the formative assessments to determine whether the learner is competent in the specified outcomes.
